AKJ Services Pty Ltd was established in Darwin, Northern Territory in early 2018 by Jessie Risk, a local Larrakia woman and is since becoming recognised as one of the most respected and client focused construction companies in Darwin.

AKJ Services is a Larrakia Indigenous owned, managed and operated civil and landscaping construction company. Proudly representing a true local voice for the civil industry that are invested in the Northern Territory, its people and its growth.

We employ local skilled people that have extensive amounts of experience in the civil construction industry and maintain a high standard of safety and quality. We place an emphasis on building strong, trusting and long lasting relationships with our customers, consultants, local subcontractors, local suppliers and representatives.

 Meet the Family 

The Risk family have  been involved in the civil construction industry on Larrakia Country for generations. Founded by Larrakia woman Jessie Risk, to provide  opportunities  and futures for her family, AKJ Services is truly a Territory family business. 

Jessie Risk  – Owner and Managing Director

Jessie founded AKJ Services early 2018 in the belief that as a Larrakia lady she can make a difference for her family and her community by providing job opportunities within the construction industry.

Jessie is responsible for the strategic planning, business administration and management of AKJ. This includes key performance indicators, resource
management, staff development and financial management.

Jessie currently sits on the board of NTIBN.

Antal Reti – Director

Antal has been with AKJ Services from when it was established in early 2018. He has over 13 years experience within the Northern Territory construction industry and is a qualified civil engineer.

Antal is a highly skilled and experienced Senior Project Manager with successful experience managing a diverse range of projects throughout the Northern Territory. He has experience in Work Health and Safety and ensures that all legislation, permits, acts and regulations are adhered to and communicated to all staff.

He is responsible for tendering, as well as the management of both new and current projects.

Jackson Risk – Supervisor/Operator

Jackson is a qualified boiler maker who has spent over 6 years in the civil industry and had completed his Cert II in Civil Construction. Jackson is a very competent operator who values safety.

Jackson has a keen eye for detail and prides himself on his finished products.

Evelyn Caddy – Business Manager

Evelyn joined the team at AKJ Services in 2020. Previously to that Evelyn had worked as an  accountant for 3 years at one of Australia’s mid-tier accounting firms.

Evelyn is an adaptable, motivated team leader who can comfortably manage herself across multiple disciplines. She has experience in financial and management accounting as well as administartive roles.

Dylan Risk – Supervisor/Operator

Dylan has been in the civil industry for 8 years and brings experience from a pipe-laying background.

AKJ Services has recently upskilled Dylan by providing him with his HR licence, allowing him more opportunities beyond labour works by getting experience driving our trucks on site.

Currently Dylan is operating our watercart, working closely with grader operators.

Warwick Risk – Site Manager

Warwick has worked in civil construction for over a decade, working his way from Labourer to Site Manager.

He is well-respected in the industry, as his hands-on experience coupled with his calm demeaned allow him to effectively problem-solve on a job without missing a beat.

Keith – Operator

Keith is a highly experienced operator of heavy machinery with over 35 years
experience. He regards safety as being number one for himself and his fellow
work crew.

Breadon Risk – Pipe Layer & Machine Operator

Breadon is a qualified and experienced Pipe Layer and Machine Operator.

He brings experience and skills in machine control and trimble gear to AKJ Services, as well as erosion control management.

Accreditation

AKJ Services is Office of the Federal Safety Commissioner (OFSC) Accredited. We are proud to be accredited under the Australian Government Building and Construction WHS Accreditation Scheme.

AKJ Services operates using a third party accredited Integrated Management System that conforms with the requirements of AS/NZS 4801 – (Occupational health and safety management systems) This certification ensures businesses comply with WHS laws and create a safe workplace for their employees and stakeholders.

ISO9001 – the international standard that specifies requirements for a quality management system (QMS). Organisations use the standard to demonstrate the ability to consistently provide products and services that meet customer and regulatory requirements.

ISO14001 – the international standard that specifies requirements for an effective environmental management system (EMS). It provides a framework that an organization can follow, rather than establishing environmental performance requirements.

The adoption of this Integrated Management System assists us to deliver quality projects, whilst maintaining a safe, environmentally aware workplace.
